Rosters Released For South Florida All Star Classic

Sure it’s probably not worth investing a couple thousand dollars for you and a friend to sit courtside at, but I don’t really know how these rosters could be anymore loaded for this game down in Miami.  The only thing they could’ve probably done is bring back Iverson and Shaq in their respective primes, or have also included Kobe too maybe.  Nevertheless, here’s how the rosters shake out according to Ira Winderman.

From the Sun Sentinel.com:

Team Wade: Carmelo Anthony, Caron Butler, Mario Chalmers, Eddy Curry, Wesley Matthews, Chris Paul, Amare Stoudemire, Dwyane Wade, John Wall and Dorell Wright.

Team LeBron: Chris Bosh, Jamal Crawford, Kevin Durant, Jonny Flynn, Rudy Gay, LeBron James, Damon Jones, Rajon Rondo, Russell Westbrook and Lou Williams.

The game, which sold out Monday, is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m., to be televised in Miami by WBFS-33 and streamed online at CBSMiami.com.

As Ira goes on to point out, the game does mark significant milestones of sorts on the road to recovery for the recently injured Rudy Gay as well as Caron Butler – both sidelined during this past post-season.  Rajon Rondo is also coming back from that injury he suffered off of that brutul spill he took last post-season as well, even though you might not remember Rondo being injured because the dude played anyway.  That doesn’t mean he wasn’t seriously jacked up, however, and in need of some recovery too because I’m sure he is. So hopefully all three of those guys are fine on Saturday night.

Getting into these rosters a little bit more, I do hope they’re planning to play with at least four basketballs per team.  Wade, Carmelo, Stoudemire, Wall – no more shots left after those four – and the same can be said when you go LeBron, Durant, Russ Westbrook and Rudy Gay on the other side.  Who knows how hard these guys will play collectively, but there is an absolute ton of firepower involved in this game here.  Should be fun, and I’ll probably even stream it live for a while until they demonstrate that it’s no more than a glorified And One Mixtape game with better players.

Oh, and before you say why is Damon Jones on this team, just don’t question it.  Whether you think you like Dam Jones or not, trust me you do.  He is one of the funniest people I’ve ever encountered in basketball, and he’ll add some entertainment value to the game on Saturday night to be sure.  He’ll probably bury at least two threes while he’s out there too.
