Bobcats could get All-Star Game with arena upgrades

Charlotte hosted the All-Star Game back in 1991 when Charlotte Coliseum was a new arena and the Hornets were a new franchise. A lot has happened in 23 years including the Hornets moving away, a new franchise coming in and the Hornets name returning to Charlotte. A new building too, Time Warner Cable Arena, was […]

Mavs’ Cuban feels Lakers best years are behind them

The Lakers franchise is one of titles, great players, numerous memories, and one of the most storied teams in NBA history. Under the leadership of Jerry Buss, the Lakers were a consistent playoff contender but now that the Buss era is over, Mavericks’ Mark Cuban feels the team will be floundering for many seasons to […]

Greg Oden’s revenge game

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-3ri-AX-p8

Greg Oden has played 20 games for the Heat, averaging 12.0 points per 36 minutes and 9.2 rebounds per 36 minutes. Playing 20 games and 8.9 minutes per game seems like a major accomplishment for Oden. He has been riddled with injuries since he was drafted in 2006, playing parts of only three seasons including this year.

So getting his first chance to play against the Blazers was probably tinged with some emotion. Oden scored four points and grabbed three rebounds in 15 minutes. It was a modest appearance for Oden in yet another start.

Surely that dunk had some emotion behind it however. Even if it was nobody’s fault that Oden did not work out as the top overall pick in Portland.

The Heat won 93-91 as the Blazers continue an East Coast swing.

No delaying the inevitable, ads coming to NBA jerseys

The inevitable is coming to the NBA. Commissioner Adam Silver all but admitted it at the IMG World Congress of Sports last Wednesday. Advertisements are coming to NBA jerseys. Silver said he believes it will happen in the next five years. That is sure to make traditional American sports fans a little annoyed. Unlike European […]

Mark Cuban warns NFL

“I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion. I’m just telling you: pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. And they’re getting hoggy.

“Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I’m just telling you, when you’ve got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That’s rule No. 1 of business.”

-Mark Cuban (h/t Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com)

Cuban, who has been as outspoken as ever in recent weeks when it comes to business issues in the NBA and in sports, was talking specifically about the NFL’s exclusive TV deals. He was not mentioning the NFL and football’s concussion crisis or the beginnings of the end of that sport in that sense.

He also stands to benefit since the NBA would be second among the major sports in the league. We will see if Cuban’s prediction comes true…

CC Video of the day: MKG devastates Blazers’ Leonard

Oh! My! Goodness!

With the NCAA tournament fully underway, some of you may have missed this beauty courtesy of Bobcats’ Michael-Kidd Gilchrist. This weekend the Cats and Blazers faced off and MKG decided to absolutely murder Myers Leonard with a sick facial!

No words can describe the devastation so enjoy and RIP Meyers.

Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins gone in opening weekend of NCAA Tourney

Before NBA fans and teams waiting for the NBA Draft could blink, the top three prospects for this year’s NBA Draft are gone. Duke’s Jabari Parker, Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart and Kansas’ Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid are out of the NCAA Tournament in the first weekend with only Kansas reaching the third round of […]

Thunder’s Westbrook’s knee will be all right

Thunder fans got a scare recently when guard Russell Westbrook suffered a knee injury versus the Raptors. Considering Westbrook has been dealing with knee issues which caused him to miss most of the Thunder’s run last season, seeing him go down again with another knee injury would have been a tough pill to swallow as […]

CC Pic of the day: Bynum decided to get a haircut at halftime

Pacers’ Andrew Bynum is out for the season with a knee injury. I know shocking. Yet despite being out for the season Bynum still had time to get a haircut at halftime of a recent Indiana game and continued to show just how much he has not matured. One might say, “Well that’s Bynum,” […]

Rookie of the Year race tightening up?

The most heated race in the NBA is not occurring at the top of the standings, nor in the middle. No, it is down there at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. It is kind of hard to see with all the losses that have piled up for their respective teams. Michael Carter-Williams and Victor […]

CC Video of the day: Westbrook injures knee… again

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFrmoFXuMNk

Well this was probably something the Thunder did not want to see.

Since last season and this season, Russell Westbrook has been dealing with knee injuries. Just this season, he underwent two surgeries to correct his injuries and with OKC chasing the No. 1 spot in the West, having him succumb to another injury is something the team does not need.

During the third quarter of last night’s Thunder-Raptors matchup, Westbrook pulled up limp after tweaking his right knee after taking a hit from Kyle Lowry.

Are teams really tanking?

Some have suggested that this season, because of the perceived strength of the 2014 NBA Draft class, more teams than usual have tossed in the towel in favor of the draft. However, the truth is if you look at the last five years of NBA basketball, this year’s standings are not that far off from the norm and are not nearly as bad, especially at the bottom, as some teams have been in the not so distant past.

CC Video of the day: Knicks’ Anthony drops the ‘F-Bomb’ on coach Woodson

The Knicks are on a roll winning several games and look poised to make a late season surge.

Yet despite winning and possibly making the playoffs, Carmelo Anthony decided to muck things up during a timeout by dropping the F-Bomb on coach Mike Woodson who was just simply coaching.

The game was in hand for New York as they were going to beat Indiana. With just seconds left on the game-clock, Woodson was going over the timeout situation when Melo cut him off and decided to tell his coach exactly how he feels. Check out Woodson’s reaction. Priceless.
