Checking in on the defending NBA champs

The defending NBA champs, San Antonio Spurs, have started off a bit slow, so what gives? I mean these are the Spurs!

To break the Spurs’ lackluster start, Bloguin’s own Project Spurs’ Jeff Garcia and Aaron Preine broke down the Spurs slow start to the season.

Are there any chemistry issues? Who have the Spurs been missing more Patty Mills or Tiago Splitter? What about the up-and-down start?

Also on the show, the duo discusses Kawhi Leonard’s future with the team? He says he wants to be a Spur for life but will the team open the vault?

All this and much more including Tim Duncan vs. Kobe Bryant – who has had the better career?

DeAndre Jordan has excelled for Clippers even as Blake Griffin has struggled

While 5-3 would be a pretty good record for most NBA teams through eight games it is actually a little disappointing for the Los Angeles Clippers. Last season was also disappointing for the Clippers, as they lost in the Western Conference Semifinals to the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games. That has carried over to this […]

The Rockets play defense?

While Kevin Durant was yelling obscenities at Dwight Howard, the Thunder and the Rockets were engaged in an intriguing and ugly game of basketball. A 69-65 win for the Rockets does not quite fit the Rockets’ storyline. This is a team with tons of offensive potential and little in the way of defense. The story […]

Knicks problems more personnel than system

Carmelo Anthony can do only so much. His 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter of Friday’s loss to the Jazz was essential Carmelo Anthony. It was him just taking the ball, lifting up and draining the shot. Nothing more, nothing less. That might be the ideal Anthony offense. He is the ultimate one-on-one player and […]

Kelly Olynyk is a sophomore on the rise and we should take notice

The 2013 NBA Draft class has been underwhelming to say the least, but there is one player hoping to change that view. Kelly Olynyk has started the year on an absolute tear — he is shooting 60 percent and an even more absurd 50 percent from downtown. There were a lot of guys who were expected to contribute right […]

Prices for Thunder tickets are tanking, even if the team isn’t

The Oklahoma City Thunder are not where they expected to be at this point in the season. Oklahoma City is treading water until they can get Kevin Durant (fractured right foot) and Russell Westbrook (broken right hand) back in the lineup. Until then, some of the younger Thunder players are getting a shot to play.

Should the Oklahoma City Thunder Tank This Season?

Success in the NBA is no different than experiencing success anywhere else. In order to sustain the high of winning, it is required to trudge through the depths of defeat. Deep, huh? The Oklahoma City Thunder have been riding that high for about six years now, ever since they linked up Kevin Durant with Russell […]

Hollywood Kind of Love

Long live the Los Angeles Laker history of luring superstar big men away from their small-market teams. They have done it before, history and hints say they will do it again.

Tyler Ennis is one well spoken rookie

A lot of rookies who come into the league are not always comfortable with talking to the media or are not even comfortable with the English language. However, the Suns’ Tyler Ennis ranks near the top when it comes to speech sophistication, at least according to this study from Harvard University. The Harvard Sports Analysis Collective did […]

Hawks ratings are up, but how is actual attendance?

So the Atlanta Hawks are experiencing a boost in their ratings on Fox SportSouth according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That is a 44 percent boost to be exact. The ratings were up nearly 50 percent for the first three games this season compared to the first three from last season. The opponents this year were the Raptors, […]

Nuggets Mining for Gold or What’s Left

The Denver Nuggets have started the year 1-5. The last time the franchise started 1-5 was during the 1998-1999 season where they ended up winning only 14 games. The Nuggets have made the playoffs in 10 out of 11 years (missed last season). I cannot speak for the Nuggets organization but it is easy to infer that […]

How Good Can The Greek Freak Be?

Potential is a slippery slope. It is a variable-laden, ticking time bomb. Too often players are boasted and prodded around as the future of the NBA, and then they end up hovering along the D-League wall. Then there are players who fly – somewhat – under the radar. They excite with flashes of skill and physical […]

Nash pens letter to Lakers fans

Lakers guard Steve Nash is pretty much looking right at the end of his career in the NBA. He has been beset by injuries which has derailed his time in L.A. and this season is no different. Considering the Lakers are dealing with their own issues on the court dealing with what pretty much is going […]
