While several players are bolting for Europe to assure they will be playing competitive basketball during the NBA lockout, some players have talked about switching sports altogether.
Recently Nate Robinson talked about playing in the NFL, which is no longer in a lockout.
Could Kevin Love be next to switch sports… to beach volleyball, perhaps.
While Love is no Karch Kiraly, he didn’t look half bad playing on a makeshift beach volleyball court in Times Square yesterday. Love was there to participate in a public practice for the Jose Cuervo Beach Volleyball Series later this summer. Love will compete in the $200,000 Manhattan Beach Open from August 26-28.
Joining Love were pro beach volleyball players John Hyden, Sean Scott, Jess Gysin and Christal Engle.
While I’m sure Timberwolves fans would much rather see Love on a basketball court over a volleyball court, at least he has another outlet to keep in shape while other players are playing in pro-am leagues.
We’ll have to wait and see if Love can match his league-leading rebounds per game to spikes per game. For Timberwolves fans’ sake, let’s hope the lockout doesn’t extend into winter. Love figure skating or bobsledding might be a bit too much.
Somewhere Bo Jackson is shaking his head.
