With the sale of the Detroit Pistons formally approved this past week, the team finally got down to the business of re-shaping its basketball operations. Step one, putting John Kuester out of his misery.
Pistons announce expected ouster of John Kuester … ex-Pistons assistant Mike Woodson, as previously stated, among candidates to take over
Kuester’s run in Detroit was not very good to say the least. He had almost twice as many losses as he did wins and he had a very public feud with Rip Hamilton. When you consider Kuester had time as an assistant with the Pistons to get in good with his players, the way it all fell apart is pretty damning.
It was a power play gone wrong as both coach and player dug in their heels to prove points. Now Kuester’s out of a job and he’ll very likely have to rebuild his reputation as an assistant once again. Meanwhile, the same names that have been tossed around for other jobs will be mentioned for this one: Lawrence Frank, Dwane Casey, Mark Jackson, and so on… and so on… and so on…
It’s already a crazy coaching carousel. Kuester’s been kicked off the ride. At this point, you’ve got to wonder who’s next.
