Goodman/Indy Pro-Am Date Set

Kevin Durant and James Harden (AP Photo) via Daylife.comWe’re getting to a point where the Goodman league team will just show up on random courts and take on all comers.  After taking on the Drew League, the Melo League in Baltimore wanted a piece.  Now, a team has been put together in Indianapolis, and will face off against the Goodman team on September 24.

Indy is supposed to roll out a team that includes Eric GordonZach Randolph and George Hill. Goodman will counter with Kevin Durant and friends.

Why September 24?  Probably because the Impact Basketball league is starting up on the 12th and ending on September 23.  With more than 40 NBA players committed to the Impact league, this pro-am game probably needed to wait.

Meanwhile, how long before other cities want in on the fun?  Why hasn’t New York, the center of the streetball universe, put a team of its own together?  When is Dwyane Wade getting a Chicago team to face Goodman?  What about Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta, or Boston?

If this lockout keeps on dragging on, the more we’ll see these other cities get into the act, especially as they see how much attention these guys get.  So this Indy/Goodman game will be fun, but I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that this won’t be the last of these pro-ams we’ll see.
