It’s the potential one-on-one matchup that everyone is talking about. No, not Kobe vs. LeBron, it’s much bigger than that. It’s Michael Jordan vs. Ron Artest (or Metta World Peace if you want to play along with the insanity). Artest said on Twitter that he would challenge Jordan to a game of one-on-one to end the lockout.
“Micheal Jordan I challenge you I’ll spot you 20 and a bag of cheetos If I win end lockout Keep the Cheetos”
Obviously we can take this as one big joke. If you look down Artest’s Twitter feed it’s pretty clear he just says things for attention. We’re also assuming here that Michael Jordan has the power to single-handedly end the lockout, which I’m pretty sure he doesn’t.
But let’s say we could see this play out, who would you pick to win the matchup? A Ron Artest that’s a little past his prime or Michael Jordan who’s pushing 50? My money is on Jordan. In my experience, you never bet against Jordan, especially if he’s getting 20 points.
Either way, it’s becoming more and more clear that this lockout needs to end, if only so that we can put a stop to the madness of Metta World Peace and get his mind occupied on something that isn’t pointless challenges or dancing with stars. The world is a much better place with basketball in it.
