There’s Going To Be A Charity Game In Waco, Texas Too

It has finally arrived! Waco, Texas. Charity Game. Get on your feet people!

Yes, it is true, the Lockout has lasted long enough for Waco, Texas to play host to it’s own charity game.  It is reportedly being organized by NBA superstar Kevin Durant, and is expected to include names like John Wall, Tracy McGrady, and LaMarcus Aldridge, as well as others.

This from ESPN.com:

“Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, who made one trip to Baylor during his lone season with the Texas Longhorns is returning with his pals LaMarcus Aldridge, Josh Howard, John Wall, Jason Terry, Tracy McGrady and others for what’s being called the Celebrity All-Star Basketball Game, according to a release sent out by the Baylor Bears basketball media relations office.

The game is scheduled for Dec. 1 at the Ferrell Center, the home of the Big 12’s Bears, who sent Ekpe Udoh to the NBA last season as a top-six pick (he’s not on the list of players expected to participate) and this season boast future first-round pick in sophomore Perry Jones III.

The release was distributed on the same day the NBPA walked away from the owners’ latest proposal, leaving the state of the 2011-12 season in limbo. The participants are mostly the same that were in Dallas on Saturday night for a game organized by Howard.”

It’s worth noting that the Josh Howard charity game featured enough defense for Damon Jones to score 54 points in that game.  Damon outscored Kevin Durant by 30 points that night, and there is no truth to the rumor that KD is launching this game in order to create an opportunity to get revenge on Jones for stealing all that shine that night.

In all fairness to Waco, Texas though, it does make sense to schedule at game at Baylor that features Ekpe Udoh who recently starred for the Bears.  Since we’re talking about Baylor, how smart does Perry Jones III look right now?  Last summer a lot of people saw him as a top-10 draft pick but he opted back into college for one more season.  Which has allowed him to play actual organized basketball games, instead of charity games in Waco. Smart kid.
