Michael Beasley is bringing the fun of the lockout-long barnstorming All-Star basketball tours to Minnesota tonight. The Michael Beasley “All Star Classic” comes to Osseo High School with such stars as John Wall, Kevin Durant and Timberwolves teammate Kevin Love to wow the crowd with a dazzling array of…
… oh, what’s that?
… No John Wall?
Ok, well… Kevin Durant, king of the summer barnstorming tour will be sure to wow the crowd with a dazzling arr….
… he’s not coming either?
So what are we going to get? A vicious rebounding demonstration from Kevin Love? WHAT? HE’S not going to be there either???
NBA stars Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, John Wall and Jeff Green all have withdrawn from Michael Beasley’si charity “All-Star Classic” Friday night at Osseo High.
Organizers are working to add another star name or two.
They’ve changed ticket prices from $60, $120 and $300 to $40 for general admission, $100 for VIP reserved and $300 for one of 35 courtside seats.
Good move. Though I’m not so sure people are going to pay $300 for a close-up view of Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Mario Chalmers, and Keith Bogans. I’m not sure people will pay $40 for that lineup, even if it IS for charity.
It’s not like Durant and Wall to bail on one of these games. Those guys have played everywhere during the lockout. But they’re involved in that international barnstorming tour, so they may be on the shelf until that happens.
And this is what its come to. Never mind the “what if they get hurt” concerns for NBA teams. We’re at a point where one charity exhibition tour has concerns about players getting hurt at a lesser exhibition. Fun times.
Well, people of Minnesota, I really feel for you. Once again, you got your hopes up only to be saddled with a crappier basketball product than the rest of the country.
