The Brooklyn Nets had a grand unveiling today of the stuff we’ve already seen, as they put an end to the leaks and kicked off the frenzy of new Brooklyn Nets merchandise.
The new Nets colors are black and white, and some their gear has a clear urban theme to it.
The two script shirts are nods to the Brooklyn’s own Notorioius B.I.G. “Brooklyn’s Finest” is a line uttered by BIG in “Who Shot Ya”
“And I’m Crooklyn’s Finest/You Rewind This/Bad Boy’s behind this”
For those who don’t know, “Crooklyn” is a popular euphemism for Brooklyn. The second shirt comes from Biggi’s “Juicy”…
“Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way/The Moet and Alize keep me pissy/Girls used to diss me/Now they write letters ’cause they miss me”
Net’s owner Jay Z and the late Christopher “Notrious B.I.G” Wallace are the biggest names in the rap game to ever come out of Brooklyn, so it makes sense Jay would tip a cap to Biggie this way. The logo is clean and simple. In an era where many new logos are overdone, this stands out for its simplicity.
Those designs are just a few that were released locally today. Here’s a look at more designs if you are interested.
