Dwyane Wade Might Have Plantar Fasciitis

Dwyane Wade (AP via Daylife.com)Dwyane Wade has missed three games so far with what’s been called a sore foot.  As of right now, that’s all its being called.  But it could be something worse than that.

“It’s mostly a bruise. And down there, when you get kicked a lot of times, it can feel like plantar fasciitis. But he’s feeling better and we’re able to give him extended rest and treatment and we’ll have to see how he feels.”

Mostly, Wade feels like a player itching to get back on the court, but one also dealing with uncertainty, unable to rule out plantar fasciitis.

“It’s just hurting,” he said. “It could be three different things. That’s one of them. The bruise is one of ’em. Maybe it’s a combination. I just know that it’s in the area of the plantar fascia and I know it’s bruised, as well. Whatever it is, it’s just taking its course, taking its time to get healthy.”

Plantar fasciitis is bad, but its not the end of the world.  It’s a chronic issue that will take time to heal, but the Heat have the luxury of throwing LeBron James, Chris Bosh and a bunch of other guys out there in a line up that’s good enough to win more games than it loses.  If the Heat needed to, they could sit Wade the rest of the month and, at worst, go 6-6.  At 8-1 now, that would still put them at 14-7 and still within striking distance of the top seed.

If the Heat needed to throw Wade in a walking boot for 3 weeks to help this thing heel, they could without worrying too much.  And all of that is still IF this is plantar fasciitis, which it certainly also might NOT be.  But because the Heat are the Heat, and because they’ve blazed out of the gates at 8-1, they can afford to be cautious.  There’s no need to be anything but sure Wade is healthy before letting hiim back onto the court at this point.
