Reports surfaced last week that the Sacramento Kings could be interested in re-locating to Virginia Beach. With respect to the destination, this latest rumor in the Kings-Could-Move-Saga was met with laughter and ridicule across the inter-webs.
Virginia Beach aside, however, the idea that the Kings could still leave Sacramento is a very real possibility. Former NBA point guard-turned-Mayor of Sac-town, Kevin Johnson, spoke on these latest rumors over the weekend.

Even at the track, Johnson couldn't escape the subject of the Sacramento Kings and their future. With another round of rumors circulating regarding the Kings' new destination, this time Virginia Beach, Johnson indicated that the city would do what it could to keep the team in town, with or without the current owners, the Maloof family.
"We have fought very hard to keep our team in Sacramento, and we've been successful for the past two years," he said. "We're not giving up, but ultimately, it's up to the Maloofs."
At the end of the day Mayor KJ is correct. This is up to the Maloofs.
I am not sure there is much more anybody else can really say about it either. If the Maloofs want to find another civic landlord they feel more comfortable with for whatever litany of reasons then they will move the team that they own. If they are cool with Sacramento they will stay.
Moving to Virginia Beach would be quite weird, but stranger things have happened, I suppose.
