Nash joins in on the “Lin-sanity”

Has everyone found their seat? Yeah, there is not much room left, I know. We are going to have to get a bigger bandwagon for Jeremy Lin. This guy has been the talk of the town for the last week, and for good reason. It is like Tim Tebow all over again, except the guy is actually good at his respective sport (yeah, I said it).

Lin is getting praise from everywhere — sports writers, other athletes, casual sports fans. Everyone wants to get in on this. It has been almost impossible to come across someone who is not impressed with the new Knicks point guard. Well now we can add one of the all-time greats to the long list of supporters. Steve Nash tweeted last week about how impressed he was with Lin.

“If you love sports, you have to love what Jeremy Lin is doing. Getting an opportunity and exploding!!”

And the professionally endorsed “Lin-sanity” was spread even further when that tweet was retweeted by six thousand people.

This is kind of funny in a way. People (mostly Knicks fans) have been hoping for years that Nash, Amar’e Stoudemire and Coach Mike D’Antoni would all be reunited in New York. That never happened, and now Jeremy Lin is filling the role everyone wanted Steve Nash to fill. Nash is never one to be a poor sport, so I am sure his respect and admiration for Lin is 100 percent genuine, but I do wonder if he is thinking that it could have been him.

I used to think it was inevitable but now, more than ever, I am starting to think we will not ever see Steve Nash in New York. My guess is that he finishes out his career in Phoenix, watching as the next generation of point guards take over. Is Lin part of this changing of the guard? Only time will tell.
