Vinny Del Negro does not believe he’s losing the Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have been awful forever. Now they have the fourth best record in the Western Conference though. As a result of the winning culture they’ve created in two months however, fourth best isn’t enough for them I guess. Reports are seemingly everywhere that they’re coach should maybe lose his job because he’s maybe lost the locker room. When asked about all that on Monday, Vinny Del Negro called those reports ridiculous.

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro questions a foul call during the second half of an NBA basketball game against the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento, Calif. , Thursday, April 5, 2012. The Clippers won 93-85.

This according to the USA TODAY:

“Ridiculous,” Del Negro told USA TODAY Sports of reports that he’d lost his locker room.

“Everyone goes through rough patches,” he continued. “Teams are losing games. The Western Conference is very difficult. You’re dealing with a lot of things with this season, a whole new team. People that (coach) understand how difficult it is. If you haven’t gone through it, you don’t know.”

“You have to have chemistry (and) rhythm guys accepting their roles,” Del Negro said. “You’ve got a whole new team with no practice time and everything is on the fly a lot of times during games.

“It was ridiculous reporting. It was unprofessional. It was not right. I talk to the people I work for almost every day. That was never an issue. I thought it was low.”

I don’t really think Del Negro is the coach for this team moving forward actually, but he should be allowed to finish this season off in peace. Vinny would classify me as a guy who doesn’t understand how difficult his job is though, because I’ve never gone through it. Del Negro has, and he is a decent enough coach I’d say, but I still don’t see this going away for him.

If there’s smoke there’s usually fire, and what I don’t see or hear is any of his players rushing to his defense on this. All Chris Paul has to say is that he and Blake love Vinny, and the “unprofessional reporting ends”. As of yet, that hasn’t happened however. Maybe if he wins the NBA Championship it will.
