Wade will be ready for playoffs

Anyone who watched the San Antonio Spurs’ playoff collapse last year has to be weary of late-season injuries. Manu Ginobili was injured in the last game of the season and the Spurs weren’t able to recover and lost to the 8th-seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs.

Miami Heat fans must have had a few flashes to Ginobili’s injury when Dwyane Wade left the game against the Washington Wizards on Saturday with a dislocated index finger. Granted, finger injuries, especially on your non-shooting hand aren’t usually that serious, but it still probably made a few people nervous.

Well Heat fans can breathe a little easier now. Wade practiced for the second day in a row yesterday, and even though he’ll be sitting out tonight’s game against the Wizards, he says he’ll be ready for the postseason.

“I’m working my way back,” Wade said. “It’s the second day with the finger, so I feel a lot better today. So, by the time we get on that court — playoff time — I’ll be fine.”

The Heat are parked right in the 2-seed in the Eastern Conference and have nothing to play for tonight against the Wizards, so rushing Wade back into action would obviously be stupid. They’ll be facing either the New York Knicks or Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs. Neither team is a pushover so it’s best that Wade just rest up and get ready for what should be a long run in the postseason.
