NBA fines Raptors for Drake shoutout

Not too long ago Drake did this:

Earlier this week, the NBA reportedly fined the Raptors $25,000 for tampering with Kevin Durant.

Drake is officially a “brand ambassador” for the Raptors, in his hometown of Toronto. That means like his musical stylings (I am still confused over who he is. . . also, get those damn kids off my lawn!), he is kind of an owner. The NBA believed that was enough to fine the team for tampering with a player under contract.

Here is betting this is the last time Drake shouts out a potential Raptors acquisition at his concerts.

Nate Robinson is dunking again

Not quite the dunks that won him the Slam Dunk contest twice, but it is good to see Robinson hopping up and flying in for a jam. Robinson, of course, is recovering from a torn ACL from last season and there is always concern that a player with his athleticism and leaping ability will not […]

Five teams poised for a Suns-like surprise

Every year in the NBA, some team proves the experts wrong and becomes the darling of basketball heads that buy League Pass the year long. Teams that were supposed to be tanking suddenly become playoff contenders and, while they rarely compete to win a championship, they become darlings for trying so hard just to reach […]

Team USA takes Ice Bucket Challenge

Someone challenged Team USA to the Ice Bucket Challenge. Who are they to decline? Apparently Kyrie Irving and Miles Plumlee decided not to participate. Team USA challenged President Barack Obama, NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Oprah Winfrey to take the challenge and raise awareness for ALS. More on that in a second. The next person […]

The NBA released its 2014-15 schedule Wednesday getting us officially super excited for the 2015 season. Is it October yet? No? Dang. Two months just seems like too long a time to wait. Especially with so many games to look forward to. This season is just going to be way too much fun. Seriously, is […]

How good is your owner?

Clippers fans are rejoicing at the fact Donald Sterling is no longer the owner of the Clippers. His tenure as owner was long and painful. He scrimped on players and fielded a losing team for most of his 20-plus years as owner. Just how bad was he? This chart from Buzzfeed should show you just […]

A raw deal for John Wall

To hear some of the criticism and lack of accolades heading John Wall, makes you think he is not one of the growing young stars in the league. The former top overall pick was recently cut from the guard-heavy U.S. Basketball Team which was not a humongous surprise considering teams can zone and Wall is still […]

How about an NBA auction draft to replace Lottery?

We are all ears right now to new ideas to replace the NBA Draft Lottery. The much-maligned system has resulted in teams tanking to get the 25 percent chance at getting the top pick, although just three teams have actually accomplished that since the league went to its current lottery iteration. Many are expecting some […]

Atlanta named country’s most miserable sports city

Atlanta fans are not the best in the NBA. Not by a long shot. That is a shame. D.J. Foster provides an excellent soundtrack at Philips Arena. The team has been to the Playoffs each of the last seven years, with three series wins in those seven years. Yes, the Hawks have never been to […]
