CC Power Rankings: Pre-World Cup

Free agency has pretty much died down at this point. The teams with money and the desire to spend it have spent it. Really, only Greg Monroe and Eric Bledsoe remain unresolved in free agency. The Cavaliers have signed Andrew Wiggins to his rookie contract, meaning they cannot trade him for 30 days. That effectively kills […]

“Dallas Mavericks Chief Executive Officer Terdema Ussery is among three finalists to become the next executive director of the National Basketball Association players’ union, two people with direct knowledge of the process said.

Michele Roberts, an attorney at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, and Dean Garfield, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group for technology companies, are the other finalists, said the people, who requested anonymity because the process is private. Ron Klempner, the association’s acting executive director, declined to comment.”

Carmelo Anthony: ‘I don’t care about money’

Carmelo Anthony’s free agency was somewhat overshadowed by LeBron James. Well, everything in the NBA was. James’ mere presence on any team was going to shift the title conversation. Chris Paul: Boycott possibility real if Donald Sterling stays

“That’s something me and Doc are both talking about. Something has to happen, and something needs to happen soon — sooner rather than later.

We’re all going to talk about it,” Paul said. “We’re all definitely going to talk about it. Doc, Blake [Griffin], DJ[DeAndre Jordan]. It’s unacceptable.”

–Clippers guard and NBPA President Chris Paul on the possibility of boycotting the Clippers to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com.

Earlier this week, Clippers CEO Dick Parsons testified in open court that the legal limbo Donald Sterling has left the Clippers in has put a lot of the franchise’s on-court success in limbo. Parsons testified Doc Rivers had told him he would consider quitting if the Sterling issue is not resolved before the start of next season.
