A comprehensive documentary on Allen Iverson is slated to premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film premieres Sunday and was directed by Zatella Beatty. It chronicles Iverson’s life, including his controversial incarceration in his hometown of Hampton, Va., which was chronicled in the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson, and his impact on the NBA and American culture.

It is one of the most anticipated documentaries of the weekend.

Sixers owner calls season a success

When you finish with the second worst record in the league and are widely assumed to be throwing the last quarter of the season after trading away Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes at the trade deadline and fielding a team that probably was not full of NBA players — no offense to Hollis Thompson. The […]

LaMarcus has it all for Portland

No matter how many points Dwight Howard scores or focused he is on offense. He cannot do it alone. He could not do it alone in Orlando and that team was a top defensive team in the league. Houston? The Rockets are not quite defensive juggernauts. They came back and forth and rode Howard as […]

Big turnover in San Antonio

So was Game One a case of the Mavericks collapsing or the Mavericks missing their opportunity? Would San Antonio even allow Dallas another opportunity to win at AT&T Center and take control of the series? The answer was, the Mavericks did collapse and the Spurs would give them that opportunity and then some. Dallas continued […]

A matter of survival

The Bobcats probably just wanted to get through the game with Al Jefferson somewhat healthy. This Charlotte team had to change and become somewhat more guard-oriented to try to get a split in Miami. It sure almost worked with Chris Douglas-Roberts missing a game-tying 3-pointer in the late stages of the game and the Heat […]

Jabari Parker leads executive straw poll

“‘This is about as close of a top three as I’ve seen in a long, long time,’ said one veteran general manager. ‘It really does depend on who gets the top pick and whether they are willing to take a risk or not.’

‘I think one GM would go with Parker, another would go with Embiid and another with Wiggins,’ added another. ‘No one knows who will go first right now.’

“Parker is the low-risk selection, a 6-foot-8 forward who can score in just about every way on the court. Many compare him to Carmelo Anthony, and many feel he’s a sure thing at the next level because of his skill set, basketball IQ and demeanor.”

Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com on 17 of 30 NBA executives saying they would take Jabari Parker with the top overall pick.

It truly is a toss up though as most general manager admit Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid have more upside while Jabari Parker is the most complete prospect.

Pacers home playoff tickets dirt cheap

OK so maybe the Indiana Pacers were not rolling into the postseason on the right foot. They lost 12-13 games in the closing games of the regular season, been dealing with internal turmoil and lost their home-opening postseason game to the Hawks. Clearly this Pacers team is all out of whack at the wrong time. […]

Wizards outlast Bulls in OT to get to 2-0 lead

Who had the Washington Wizards taking a 2-0 lead over the Chicago Bulls after two road games at United Center? For any team, that is simply hard to believe. Add in that the young Washington team blew a 17-point lead, trailed by 10 points in the fourth quarter and faced difficulties on the inside with […]

DeRozan offers his truth for Raptors

DeMar DeRozan was non-existent in Game One. Maybe nerves got the best of him. Maybe the Nets defensive intensity surprised him in spots. Who knows? The Playoffs are a different animal. Game Two was a different animal for DeRozan that was for sure. The All-Star guard came out to play and came out to finish, […]

That’s more like it for Pacers

That hand hovering over the panic button in Indianapolis, might be comfortably retreating after Tuesday’s win. For the first time in months, Indiana looked like the team was supposed to as the top seed in the Eastern Conference and the prohibitive favorite to threaten and dethrone Miami as champions. Those assumptions that the Pacers would […]
