The NBA drafts Isaiah Austin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuKKhMls0bs

In one of the most touching moments of the Draft, the NBA selected Isaiah Austin from Baylor in a ceremonial and honorary selection.

Austin was projected to be a late first round pick or early second round pick. His career though was ended before it even started when he was diagnosed with Marfan’s Syndrome. This disease would prevent Austin from ever stepping onto a NBA court.

Adam Silver wanted Austin to have his NBA moment and reward the hard work he had put in at Baylor. And so, midway through the first round, he got drafted into the NBA.

New Hornets honeycomb court is quite nice

Charlotte has ditched the Bobcats moniker and will go back to their roots and be called the Hornets next season. Along with the name change, new-look jerseys and the team looking like they can compete in the East, the franchise is on the upswing and will be debuting a new honeycomb inspired court to go […]

Crossover Chronicles Mock Draft Version 2.0

We are mere hours away from the NBA Draft taking place and a lot of key questions getting answered. Last week, I presented my first run through the first 30 picks. A lot can change in a week. Dario Saric reportedly signed a two-year deal with Anadalou Efes in Turkey. People still do not know […]

The FIFA World Cup is quickly moving to its knockout rounds as the world’s largest and most popular sporting event is really heating up. Fans Rising delivers NBArrassing petition

Toward the end of the season, a group of Philadelphia 76ers fans gathered together to generate a petition drive to ask the NBA to create a disincentive for losing and change the NBA’s Draft Lottery system. It was called “NBArrassing.” It did not call for any specific proposal replacing the current Lottery structure, although it […]

Hide your future wife, Boris Diaw may steal her

San Antonio Spurs’ Boris Diaw has it all, riches, fame, an NBA title and gets paid to just play a game. He can have anything and any woman he wants but if this photo of him is any indication, he might just try to steal you woman.

Diaw was in Austin, TX at Lake Travis when he decided to crash a bachelorette party and kiss the wife-to-be on the cheek.

Actually, Boris was invited but still, when your woman is out and about and a pro-athlete comes around, that can’t be good.

BorisDiawBacheloretteParty

Story: My friend was at Lake Travis for a bachelorette party when she saw that Boris had tweeted about being on the lake for the day. She told her friends and they were joking about riding around the lake shouting “BORIS”, and he actually heard them from a boat away saying his name. Boris immediately swam over to celebrate with them and asked if he could kiss the bachelorette. She also claimed that they sang “All I do is win win win no matta what.”

Bulls are indeed thinking about Carmelo Anthony

“I’ve talked to Tom about Melo, his name has come up. I think Tom is very excited about the possibility of getting Carmelo. He likes him. He likes how he plays. He feels he’s coachable. I think Tom Thibodeau is one of the better coaches in the NBA. Carmelo would be happy playing for him. It would be a good fit — the coach-player relationship.”

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim to Marc Berman of the New York Post

Carmelo Anthony opted out of his contract with the Knicks to become a free agent this summer. It is believed the Bulls will go hard after the NBA second-best scorer this past season. And there is reason to think he is leaving New York after the team missed the Playoffs last year — Anthony’s first season outside the postseason.

The fact Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has reached out to Anthony’s college and Olympic coach to talk about coaching him should show the Bulls are serious about going after the superstar forward.

Everyone trolls LeBron as he opts out, enters free agency

Oh, here we go again. LeBron James is a free agent once again as he has reportedly exercised his early termination option in his contract. That means the Decision is back on with only a little less fanfare as the first one. And probably much fewer disappointed Cleveland fans. There is a little more faith […]

Gortat shows that a pig is really man’s best friend

Wizards’ Marcin Gortat is enjoying the NBA offseason in his native country of Poland and either it must be a cultural thing or he really loves pigs.

Gortat was spotted in Poland at a mall and walking his pet… pig (h/t That Cover 2).

I guess that is how he rolls in Poland proving a pig is truly Marcin’s best friend.

One tank deserves another . . .

“Sources close to the Cavs told ESPN.com this weekend that the team is now leaning toward taking [Jabari] Parker with the No. 1 pick. However, it’s far from a lock. Parker came in to work out on Friday in front of the Cavs’ front office and ownership. Parker wasn’t great. He was a bit heavy (he weighed in at 255 pounds), didn’t shoot the ball well and got winded at times. Furthermore, two different sources told ESPN.com that Parker seemed a bit indifferent. One source said he thought Parker “tanked” the workout.”

76ers new secondary logo is quite presidential

The 76ers have no where else to go but up after last season’s debacle. However, they are making changes for the better. Last season they added former Spurs assistant Brett Brown to the fold, have sensational young player Michael Carter-Williams and will have a nice high draft pick this Thursday. Oh and they also will […]

Europe remains alluring, remains a risk for NBA teams

One of the NBA’s most intriguing draft prospects will get taken in the lottery, but he will not be in the NBA next year. Chad Ford of ESPN.com reports Croatian point forward Dario Saric has signed a two-year deal with Anadolu Efes in Turkey. That likely means whoever drafts Saric will have to wait for […]
