Tim Duncan stars as himself in funny commercial

Post by Erik Armenta. It must be the summer of Tim Duncan the way things are shaping up for the Spurs forward. First he will be featured in an upcoming “The Punisher”  and now No. 21 is starring as himself in the latest commercial for “Black Jack Speed Shop,” the auto body shop he owns. Just like […]

Cavaliers Highlight Three Most Expensive Game For Knicks Tickets in 2014-15

The New York Knicks are not likely to compete for an NBA title any time soon unless their superstar forward, Carmelo Anthony, can carry the team to the Finals. With limited cap space this past summer, the Knicks were unable to make any wholesale changes to the squad, instead tinkering with some parts and trying […]

Kings set to retire Peja’s jersey

He was part of the first wave of European players to make an impact in the NBA and now Peja Stojakovic’s jersey will be retired by the Kings.

Peja played 16 seasons in the NBA and was known for being one of the game’s most prolific outside shooters. He averaged 17 points, 4.7 rebounds, and shot 40 percent from the 3-point line in his career.

Not only that, he was a three-time NBA All-Star: 2002, 2003, 2004, a 2-time NBA 3-Point Shootout Champion: 2002, 2003, ranked fourth in NBA history in career free-throw percentage at .895, ranked ninth in NBA history in 3-pointers made with 1,760, ranked seventh in NBA playoff history in free-throw percentage at .900, ranked 11th in NBA history in 3-pointers attempted with 4,392 and was the first player in NBA history to start a game off by scoring 20 consecutive points for his team.

Sacramento drafted Peja 14th overall in 1996. With the Kings, he averaged 18.3 points and five rebounds. He is Sacramento’s leader for 3-pointers made (1,070) and attempted (2,687) and free-throw percentage (.893).

The NBA continues to have a tortured relationship with race

The majority of the NBA is black. Let us get that out in the open. There is no denying it. There is no avoiding it. There is no getting around it. Yet, for much of the NBA’s existence that is exactly what some have tried to do. When you look through NBA history — I […]

‘The Big Fundamental’ featured in ‘The Punisher’ comic book

As if Spurs’ Tim Duncan does not have enough accolades to his pro basketball resume, here comes this gem. Duncan is set to be featured in Marvel’s “The Punisher” comic book as a car mechanic (seeing how he owns “Black Jack Speed Shop” autobody shop in San Antonio) to “Frank Castle” aka “The Punisher.” And how […]

Our favorite discarded court ideas

We hit the doldrums of September. With the FIBA World Cup ending, we will really have nothing to talk about. So, thank you Zach Lowe for ranking the NBA court designs and filling our days with something fun to talk about. Lowe went with the classic Lakers and Celtics courts as the best in the […]

So these dunks from the Bradley League are quite good

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWVCuHxxeig I never heard of the Bradley League but apparently there’s one thing the players are really good at – dunking the ball with authority. With the new NBA season inching closer and closer, why not take time to enjoy a collection of nasty dunks to get you ready for the real deal come October. […]

Carmelo Anthony: Nobody would go to Atlanta now

CarmeloAnthony101713

[There] ain’t nobody [who] would want to go there. At the end of the day, Atlanta … I think it puts Atlanta back even further now, from that standpoint.

Atlanta is a great city, a great market, great people, great atmosphere. But as far as the comments were made, I think it was uncalled for. From an owner, from a GM, those are not things you play with.

As a player, as an athlete, we’re looking for a job, we’re trying to find a place where we can move our family, we can make our family comfortable, where we can be comfortable in a comfortable environment, but those comments right there, we would never look at. I’m speaking on behalf of all athletes. We would never look at a situation like that, I don’t care what it is.”

U.S. Boogies to World Cup gold

At one point, DeMarcus Cousins was on the bubble to make the U.S. roster. No one really had any idea what to expect from the U.S. as they made their roster selections, but many believed they would elect to go small. It became clearer though that the U.S. was anticipating that matchup against big and […]

James Harden loses his man. . . just a little bit

James Harden is not known for his defense. It has become a favorite Internet meme. But . . . So . . . that is not very good defense. Fortunately Team USA is dominating Serbia thanks to Harden’s offense and Kyrie Irving’s incredible performance from beyond the arc. No video yet of Harden flying out […]

Phoenix Mercury win WNBA title

While you were focused on the FIBA World Cup (right?!), the WNBA wrapped up its season with a matchup of two of the great young stars in the league. Unfortunately, Chicago’s Elena Delle Donne was dealing with a back injury and was getting back into shape. And then in Game Two of the series, Brittney […]

Has Adam Silver made his first mistake? On sleep?

It is hard to argue that Adam Silver’s tenure as commissioner of the NBA since February has been anything but flawless. Since taking over for David Stern, Silver has shown a willingness to take on new ideas and approach longtime problems in the NBA with fresh ideas. He has been willing to listen to players […]

Team USA needs to take care of business on Sunday in FIBA Championship

On Thursday afternoon, in their semifinal game of the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Team USA destroyed Lithuania — with current NBAers Donatas Motiejunas and Jonas Valanciunas — by the score of 96-68 in yet another easy victory, the US’s eighth of the tournament. Kyrie Irving led the way with 18 points while James Harden and […]
