Kemba Walker enjoys national championship with UK teammate

Yes, college still matters in the NBA. Especially when it comes to the national championship.

Bobcats guard Kemba Walker, who led Connecticut to a national championship in 2011, won a bet with his teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, a Kentucky alumnus. That is MKG on the right not looking too thrilled.

Napier had a true tournament, Final Four, and championship to remember

UConn beats Kentucky in NCAA Championship, with Shabazz Napier winning Tournament MVP

When Connecticut, under former NBA player and second-year head coach Kevin Ollie, was given a No. 7 seed for this NCAA Tournament, not many prognosticators gave the Huskies a good chance to win it all, as the team lost twice to non-tournament SMU and Houston all just in conference play during the regular season. However, […]

ESPN: Joe Dumars to resign after this season

From ESPN: “Pistons president Joe Dumars is expected to resign before his contract expires on July 1, league executives have told ESPN.com.”

“Dumars has spent 29 years with the franchise, as both a player and an executive, and has had a hand in every Detroit title. Drafted in 1985, he retired as a player in 1999 and took over as Pistons president in 2000. His changes led to a title in 2004, followed by another Finals appearance the next season.”

We will have more on the game from the NBA perspective in a little bit. . . .

Best dunks from Suns’ Gerald Green

The 2013-14 NBA season is nearing the end. Hard to believe it but it is true.

The season gave us many highlights from many players but perhaps Suns’ Gerald Green gave NBA fans some of the best dunk-worthy highlights this season. The dunks he displayed on the court were simply jaw-dropping.

Let’s relive some of his best from this season and get set to get up and out of your seat once again.

David Stern, Zo highlight Hall of Fame Inductees

Congrats to the new Hall of Famers!

Kyrie Irving has had enough of rumors he is leaving

It seems like in the NBA we go from one player leaving to the next. We went from LeBron James to Carmelo Anthony to Dwight Howard to Carmelo Anthony (again) to Kevin Love and, now, to Kyrie Irving.

The fact the Cavaliers will probably miss the Playoffs again and Irving is set to hit restricted free agency has raised the alarms in Cleveland that the organization could lose another first overall pick in five years. The reality is it probably will not happen.

And Irving is putting the kibosh on the rumors now (or Saturday):

Irving just wants the rumors to stop at this point. Cleveland has too much riding on the end of the season. The Cavaliers are trying to rally for that final Playoff spot. They are currently in 10th place, two games behind the ninth place Knicks and four games behind the eighth place Hawks. Any combination of two Atlanta wins or two Cleveland losses will officially eliminate Cleveland from the Playoffs. The margin for error is razor thin.

Let the summer be the time for unsubstantiated rumors.

Larry Sanders supports marijuana legalization in face of drug-related suspension

“It’s something I feel strongly about, just to let you know something personal about me. I will deal with the consequences from it. It’s a banned substance in my league. But I believe in marijuana and the medical side of it. I know what it is if I’m going to use it.

“I study it and I know the benefits it has. In a lot of ways we’ve been deprived. You can’t really label it with so many other drugs that people can be addicted to and have so many negative effects on your body and your family and your relationships and impairment. This is not the same thing.

“The stigma is that it’s illegal. I hate that. Once this becomes legal, this all will go away. But I understand for my work it’s a banned substance. I will deal with the consequences and I apologize again to my fans for that.”

Gerald Green does it again with an incredible dunk

OK I think it is well-established that Suns’ Gerald Green is one of the best dunkers (if not the best) in the NBA.

And he proved his case once again recently as he did a self-ally-oop versus the Blazers.

Check out this ridiculous dunk by Green and prepare to leap out of your seat.

Brandon Knight destroys Raptors’ Valanciunas

The Bucks’ Brandon Knight pretty much put Raptors’ Jonas Valanciunas in every single highlight, and poster for the rest of this season with a huge dunk.

This dunk is just epic. Be ready to replay it over and over. It is absolutely sick.

Dante Cunningham carrying on with Wolves

News is not good in Minnesota right now. Despite defeating the Heat in double overtime Friday, there was still a dark shadow over the team. And it had nothing to do with another Playoff chase coming up short for yet another year. Backup forward Dante Cunningham will bring some unneeded attention to the organization. Charges […]

Bobcats launch paint site to promote Al Jefferson

Award season can get pretty wacky with teams searching for ways to promote their team and promote their players for certain awards — just look up Kevin Love glass cleaner. The Bobcats are back in the Playoffs for the second time in franchise history and want the world to recognize their best player, Al Jefferson. […]
